Watershed

Colin Dodds‘ book, Watershed, “A new literary thriller about the unlikely dawn of a surprising future,” will debut on May 12. Dodds’ poem, “Graverty’s Revenge” was published in the Winter 2016 issue of Local Nomad. Congratulations, Colin! Find out more about the author on Colin Dodds’ Amazon page.

“The masterfully dystopian WATERSHED unpacks the future of a modern America that, while spectacular, nobody was expecting… It’s a future that, as Leonard Cohen sang, is murder. The revelations of prose in WATERSHED makes that murder enjoyable… one of the few things worth believing in.”

Corporeal

A press has assigned an editor to work with me on my poetry mss., Corporeal. No promises, but hey, December 2016 is looking slightly more positive than it did on Dec. 1st. Plus: Standing Rock.

Haptic drawing by Jean Vengua, based on a reading of “Devotions” by Bruce Snyder.

Making Handmade Books

A few days ago, I bought an oversized book titled Making Handmade Books: 110+Bindings, Structures & Forms, by Alisa Golden. I’ve never taken a bookmaking course, so, aside from a couple handmade books I made — one in high school, and one in college — this is my first real introduction to the art. The book making ideas in this volume look like origami patterns, and there’s a lot of them. Some are folded simply, some are sewn, some bound with tape, leather, or wood. I’m thinking it would be fun to make a bunch of one-off tiny chapbooks and distribute them or sell them for a small amount whenever I do a reading. Fun!
