Old Capitol Books in Monterey: the old is new again

Old Capitol cropped
Old Capitol Books in Monterey, which used to be the wonderful Book Haven and is now managed by Matthew Sundt, has got some new (and good) things going. Tuesday nights, for example, is Back Alley Poetry night. Also meeting at Old Capitol are the Theory & Philosophy Reading Group, the Networking Aloud! Open Mic night, and the Monterey Bay Poetry Consortium. There have been discussion/reading groups on critical thinking, Arab American poets, sci fi, revolution, gender, and psychedelics.

As if that’s not enough this great bookstore has loads of used and antiquarian books to peruse, and authors visit regularly to do readings and book signings. So, visit, attend an event, and check the website for the full calendar. 559 Tyler St. in Monterey, CA.
