“Valley of the Heart: a Kabuki Corrido”

While I’m on the subject of plays, do get a ticket to a new play by Luis Valdez’ Teatro Campesino: “Valley of the Heart: A Kabuki Corrido.” The title implies a melding of local Mexican and Japanese culture, and in fact the “memory play” focuses on “Japanese and Mexican cultures coming together in California during the challenging times of World War II.” The musical score combines Mexican corridos with Taiko drumming from TaikoPeace.
