Dredging Moss Landing Harbor

On my beach walk, yesterday, I noticed a larger-than-usual vessal in the entrance to the harbor. It was the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dredge, the Yaquina. Gulls and pelicans were hovering around its wake (it must’ve been “plowing up” some sort of nutrient). I wonder if this is related to the report of “shoaling” issued in a recent report of the U.S. Coast Guard: “…shoaling in the Moss Landing Federal Channel northern side. Shoaling is especially hazardous to vessels exiting the harbor during lower tides. Mariners are requested to transit the channel with caution.”
